The Krillion Game

Krillion is a daily trivia game where being right isn't enough. Everyone gets the same 7 prompts, and the rarer your correct answer, the more it scores.

How the Krillion game works

Each prompt asks you to name something that fits: a musical instrument, a city with “City” in its name, an animal whose name ends in Y. Thousands of answers can be correct. What matters is how many other people would give yours.

  1. Open the day's dive. There are 7 prompts, and everyone in the world gets the same ones.
  2. Type one answer for each prompt.
  3. An accepted answer lands in a rarity tier. The obvious answers barely count; the ones few players think of take you deeper.
  4. Your seven results add up to your score for the day.
  5. At midnight Eastern Time a new dive replaces the old one.

Checked against the game. The game's daily data states the exact time of its next reset, which falls at midnight Eastern Time. Last reviewed October 10, 2026.

The game describes itself this way: “Seven prompts a day, same for everyone. Rare answers sink you deeper. Obvious ones barely count.” The step-by-step rules and advice on finding rare answers are in how to play Krillion.

Krillion scoring: the six tiers

Every accepted answer is placed in one of six tiers. Here they are, commonest first.

TierPointsWhat lands here
Plankton10The answers most players think of first.
Too Clever15The go-to “obscure” pick that turns out not to be obscure at all.
Schooler30Less obvious, but still well travelled.
Rare60Answers only a small share of players reach.
Deep Cut85Valid answers that almost nobody gives.
One in a Krillion100The gem answers picked out for each prompt, each with a note from the game.

Checked against the game. Tier names and point values match the game's own tier table and its published answer sheets. Last reviewed October 10, 2026.

The odd one out is Too Clever: the answer that feels obscure but that plenty of people reach for, worth only 15. The top tier, One in a Krillion, holds the gem answers picked out for each prompt. Our scoring guide explains how rarity is decided.

Krillion game modes

The official site has four ways to play:

  • Daily dive. The main game: 7 new prompts a day.
  • Unlimited. The official site's own mode for playing beyond the daily dive.
  • Archive. Past daily dives, which the site says can be resurfaced.
  • Themed packs. Sets of prompts on one subject: Words & Language, At the Movies, Sports, Geography. Music is marked as coming soon.

Checked against the game. The official site's menu lists Daily dive, Unlimited, Archive and Themed packs. Its packs page lists Words & Language, At the Movies, Sports and Geography, marks Music as coming soon, and describes the packs as free for now and in beta. Last reviewed October 11, 2026.

Is there a Krillion app?

Not yet. Krillion is a website, with nothing to install. Asked whether an app is coming, the official FAQ says “Eventually, yes”, and it gives the same answer about a multiplayer version.

Checked against the game. The official FAQ answers "are you going to make an app?" with "Eventually, yes", and says the game is made by one person, not a team. Last reviewed October 11, 2026.

Krillion game questions

What is Krillion?

Krillion is a daily trivia game played in a web browser at krillion.io. Every day it sets the same 7 prompts for everyone, and each accepted answer scores by how rare it is, from 10 points for the answers everybody gives to 100 for the gem answers.

Is Krillion free to play?

Yes. The daily dive is free in the browser and the site carries ads. According to the official FAQ, unlocking any themed pack turns the ads off across the whole site.

Is there a Krillion app?

Not yet. The official FAQ answers the question "are you going to make an app?" with "Eventually, yes". Until then the game is a website, with nothing to install.

Is there an official Krillion Unlimited?

Yes. The official site's menu has its own Unlimited mode next to the daily dive. The Unlimited game on this site is a separate, original practice game with our own prompts and scoring.

What are Krillion themed packs?

Sets of prompts on one subject, beyond the daily dive. The official packs page lists Words & Language, At the Movies, Sports, Geography, with Music marked as coming soon, and describes the packs as free for now and in beta.

What is the highest score in Krillion?

700. A dive has 7 prompts and the top tier, One in a Krillion, is worth 100 points, so a perfect dive is a gem answer on every prompt.

Who makes Krillion?

One person. The official FAQ answers "is Krillion developed by a team?" with "No, just me".

Is Krillion Today the official Krillion site?

No. Krillion Today is an independent companion site: it publishes each day's answers and hints, keeps an archive and has its own practice game. The game itself is at krillion.io.
