What Too Clever means
The official FAQ defines Too Clever in one line: the go-to “obscure” pick that isn't actually that obscure. When the dive of August 18, 2026 asked for a planet or dwarf planet in our solar system, the Too Clever answer was Pluto: the pick of everyone who skipped Earth and Mars to be different.
Krillion scores answers by how few players give them, so the game treats that answer as what it is: a common one. It gets its own tier, second from the bottom.

How to avoid the Too Clever trap
Distrust the answer that feels smug
The feeling of having outsmarted the prompt is the warning sign. If an answer is the well-known piece of trivia about a subject, it is well known to the other players as well.
Go one step past the famous exception
The trap is usually the first thing beyond the obvious. Keep going: not the famous odd one out, but the third or fourth thing an enthusiast would name.

How many points is Too Clever worth?
- 15 points. That is 5 more than Plankton, the tier for the most common answers, and half of Schooler.
Is a Too Clever answer wrong?
- No. It is a correct, accepted answer. It just scores close to the bottom, because many other players thought of it too.
Does every prompt have a Too Clever answer?
- No. In the full answer sheets of the dive of October 10, 2026, none of the seven prompts had one. It appears only on some prompts.
How do I avoid a Too Clever answer?
- Be suspicious of the answer that makes you feel smug. If it is the famous piece of trivia about the subject, other players know it too. Go one step further, to something you know from your own experience.
